How does it work?

You upload a photo or drop one onto the page. The image is scanned for unsafe content, then sent to a vision-language AI model that analyzes the subject, mood, composition and context. Within a few seconds you'll see a generation-ready prompt, a longer description, a caption, a vibe summary, and hashtags.

No. There are no accounts, no signups and no email required. Open the page, upload an image, get results.

Is it really free?

Yes. DescribeThis.ai is free for everyday use within the daily upload and regeneration limits below. We may add optional paid features in the future, but the core tool will stay free.

What image formats are supported?

JPG / JPEG, PNG and WEBP — the formats most phones, cameras, screenshots and design tools already export to.

Is there a file size or resolution limit?

Yes — 5 MB per image. There's no strict minimum resolution, but very small or heavily compressed images (under ~256px on the long edge) may produce vaguer results because there's less visual detail for the model to read. If your file is over 5 MB, export a smaller version from your phone or any free online image compressor.

Are HEIC, GIF, SVG, RAW or PDF files supported?

Not at the moment. Convert HEIC to JPG (iPhones can do this on export) and flatten GIFs, SVGs or PDFs to PNG or JPG first. Animated images are processed as a single frame.

Can I upload multiple images at once?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. DescribeThis.ai processes one image at a time so each result stays focused and high quality. Batch uploads are on the roadmap.

Is there a daily upload limit?

Accepted Answer

Yes — 15 uploads per visitor per day, with a 30-second cooldown between uploads. This keeps the tool fast and free for everyone.

How many times can I regenerate a result?

Accepted Answer

Up to 20 individual section regenerations per day. Each card (prompt, description, caption, vibe, hashtags) can be regenerated independently without re-uploading the image.

How are limits tracked if there's no account?

Accepted Answer

We hash your IP address (a one-way fingerprint) along with the current day. We don't store your raw IP, and the fingerprint expires daily.

What happens if I hit the limit?

You'll see a friendly message and the upload button will be disabled until the cooldown ends or the next day begins. No payment wall.

Why was my image rejected?

Every upload is scanned by an automated moderation step. Images that appear to contain nudity, sexual content, graphic violence, gore, hate symbols, or self-harm imagery are rejected before they reach the AI. Moderation is automated and isn't perfect, so safe images are occasionally flagged by mistake — try a different version or crop.

What content is not allowed?

No explicit/sexual imagery, no graphic violence or gore, no hate symbols, no harassment, no content depicting minors in unsafe contexts, no content promoting self-harm, and nothing that's illegal in your jurisdiction.

Do humans review my uploads?

No. Moderation is fully automated. Rejected images are discarded immediately and not reviewed by a person.

Are my images or results stored?

Accepted Answer

No images are stored. They live in memory only as long as needed to run moderation and generate your results, then they're discarded — not saved to disk, to a database, or to long-term storage. Generated text isn't tied to your identity either; we may briefly cache results to make regeneration faster within your session, but nothing is kept against you long-term.

Who can see my image?

Only the moderation service and the AI provider that generates the description. Both are commercial APIs governed by their own privacy terms. Nothing is published publicly and nothing is shared with other users.

Do you use my images to train AI?

We do not train any model on your uploads. The AI providers we use are configured for inference only on this endpoint.

We use minimal, privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the site is used (page views, rough geography, broad device type). We don't use third-party advertising cookies or build personal profiles.

How are captions and hashtags chosen?

The AI reads the subject, mood and context of the image and writes a short, scroll-stopping caption in a natural human tone — the kind of line you'd actually post under a photo. Hashtags are a small, focused set that mixes specific tags (what's literally in the image), broader category tags, and a few aesthetic or mood tags — a usable starter set you can edit, not a wall of filler.

What's the difference between vibe, description and prompt?

The vibe is one short authored line that names the mood and aesthetic — useful for mood boards and brand briefs. The description is a plain, observational sentence about what's in the image — well suited to alt text or captions. The prompt is structured for AI image generators: subject, style, lighting, composition and medium written so you can paste it into tools like Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion or Gemini.

No AI is perfect. Outputs are best treated as smart drafts — quick to edit, faster than writing from scratch. If a section feels off, regenerate just that card without re-uploading the image.

Yes. The site is fully responsive and works on iOS Safari, Android Chrome and any modern mobile browser. You can upload directly from your camera roll or take a photo with your camera.
